The content of Dialogia! events naturally encourages audience participation, but there is no obligation or pressure to take part - you can enjoy the performance just as much by watching and listening.

HISTORY OF DIALOGIA 

FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION

Dialogia! Festival Association was founded in Hämeenlinna in June 2023. Prior to its establishment, in the autumn of 2022, a series of three multidisciplinary events titled Dialogia! was held at Hämeenlinna’s Town Hall. The series was conceived by opera singer Pia Freund. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the events were postponed to autumn 2022. The series was supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Häme Fund, and the Alfred Kordelin Foundation.

Pia Freund created the series to bring together different art forms, gather artists to perform collaboratively, and facilitate dialogue both among artists and with audiences. The aim was also to gently involve audiences in the creation of the events and to increase cultural offerings in the Hämeenlinna region.

The first events featured over 30 artists from dance, poetry, literature, theatre, visual arts, photography, and music. Using art-based methods, the events received attention in local media and were all sold out. The positive feedback inspired the idea to establish Dialogia! Festival Association, providing a framework for continuing and producing these events.
