Aino Krohn

Vice chair, assistant producer

Aino Krohn graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki (Taideteollinen Korkeakoulu) as a textile artist in 1972. After spending several years studying and living in the United States and Italy, she initially worked as a Montessori kindergarten teacher, then as a textile instructor and art teacher at an international elementary school.

In Finland, she gained experience as a freelance designer of printed fabrics and as a textile design teacher at the Fredrika Wetterhoff School of Home Economics. Upon returning to Finland, she worked as an advertising designer at Creator Oy while completing a MAT degree at the Marketing Institute and a Diploma in International Brand Management at the IAA in London. She later worked as a copywriter and concept designer in several advertising agencies in the Helsinki region before becoming Creative Director at Publicis Törmä Oy in 2000.

Currently, Krohn is actively involved in the Kanta-Häme Writers’ Association Vana-66 and the Hämeenlinna Region Art Association. Her texts have been published in two anthologies (Omiani puhun, Vanajaveden Opisto 2013; Ajatuksien rajoilla, Kirjoittajayhdistys Janaki 40 v, 2024). Her debut poetry collection, Mustarastas on minunkin nimeni (Basam Books Oy, Helsinki, 2022), was inspired by winning the YLE and Finnish Nature Foundation nature poetry competition in 2021.

About twenty of Krohn’s lyrics are registered with Teosto, and both her poems and lyrics have been performed in numerous concerts and spoken word events across Finland. Hämeenlinna-based Eräs Teatteri has used her poems in three productions: Odotus istuu olkapäällä (2015), Muistatko niin kuin minä muistan? (2023), and Eix riitä? (2025). Music educator Tiina Kukkula set two of her poems to music for the Iin Lied Song Competition in 2023.

Krohn joined the Dialogia! team by fortunate coincidence. A mutual acquaintance suggested that Hämeenlinna had someone with a broad network and involvement in many areas of culture. From the very first meeting, a strong dialogue sparked, and it quickly became clear that a collaborative partnership had already begun.

Ada Freund is a Finnish dance artist and choreographer whose work lies at the intersection of dance, sound, and interdisciplinary artistic expression. She graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and pursued further studies at the PERA School of Performing Arts, and has worked extensively in international artistic contexts.

Freund’s artistic practice is rooted in the concept of the body as a means of connection and communication. Her work is guided by humanistic values and explores how movement, sound, music, and space can create a dialogue that invites both performer and audience into emotional presence. Her works often take place in diverse environments and audience settings, challenging traditional performance formats and expanding the role of dance in society.

A central aspect of Freund’s practice is her engagement with children’s culture and audience work. She is particularly interested in accessible and community-oriented art that embraces audiences of all ages and backgrounds, bringing high-quality contemporary dance into everyday life. Her works explore how we can be more present with one another, perceive time, environment, and each other - and how art can serve as a space for meaningful encounters.
