Another name for time is change

Another Name for Time is Change is an interdisciplinary performance that explores different perceptions of time through music, dance, and poetry. Audiences are invited to pause and reflect on the relationship between temporality and timelessness, experiencing moments of meditation, transformation, and the richness of life in all its forms.

The programme features music by Franz Schubert, Arvo Pärt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Astor Piazzolla, and Songs of Winter and War, a contemporary work by Paola Livorsi. Poetry and texts by Lauri Viita, Kaarlo Sarkia, William Shakespeare, and Oksana Zabuzhko weave together with music and movement, creating a contemplative and emotionally resonant journey.

A visual landscape accompanies the performance through imagery created during a photographic expedition to the island of Jurmo by photographer Terho Aalto and soprano Pia Freund. These striking images evoke a world where ancient ruggedness and fragile beauty exist side by side, providing a powerful backdrop for the music, poetry, and dance.

Another Name for Time is Change invites audiences to reflect on change as an essential part of existence and to encounter the beauty, vulnerability, and resilience of the passing moment.
